San Marcos’ Jimmy Brakka had Birmingham’s number on Monday.
The sophomore knocked in five runs, leading the Royals to a 12-5 non-league victory.
Monday’s game, a make-up from Saturday, is part of the Southern California Tournament. San Marcos is now 2-0 and hosts Arleta on Wednesday, also a tourney game.
Brakka’s day included a 3-run home run in the first inning and a two-run double in a 5-run fifth inning. San Marcos enjoyed a 10-2 lead at that point.
David Kim started on the mound for San Marcos and retired the first nine batters he faced. He ran into a little trouble in the fourth and Royals head coach Rob Crawford decided to sit him with a big lead to rest him for Saturday.
