Coach Daniel Torres said that his Carpinteria boys soccer team played its best Tri-Valley League game of the season, but visiting Malibu got an equalizer in the 50th minute to force a 1-1 draw on Friday.
“We moved it from left to right as often as we could and played real well, but it’s like the last couple of games — we just couldn’t score,” said Torres.
Hector Delgado buried a penalty kick in the 30th that initially put the Warriors (12-4-2, 5-3-1) up 1-0.
“I told them our goal is to make playoffs so we have to win our next couple of games. The important thing here is winning,” said Torres, whose team plays the Sharks again on Saturday.
