Carpinteria’s girls soccer team closed out its season on a positive note on Thursday, bringing down Nordhoff 1-0 for a Tri-Valley League victory.
The Warriors were defeated 6-3 by the Rangers in their first meeting but were able to record the shutout in the second meeting. Torrey Rassmussen was credited with three saves on her way to the cleansheet.
Joselyn Gamez scored her 21st goal of the season in the 35th minute to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Freshman Kylie Augerot provided the assist for Gamez.
Freshman defender Cristina Valdez was another newcomer to the varsity who contributed quality minutes after three starters left the game with injuries.
Carpinteria, which will graduate 12 seniors, finishes its season with an 8-10 overall record.
