SBCC swept the last four singles and all three doubles on Tuesday in a 7-2 WSC-opening women’s tennis victory over Glendale at Pershing Park.
Kendra Ross, Amy Sagraves, Anna Slyutova and Terea Tapu all scored singles wins in straight sets for the unbeaten Vaqueros (3-0, 1-0). The doubles teams of Ross/Lindsay Penner, Sagraves/Meghan Schaefer and Van Hoogenhuijze-Slyutova won their sets to eight games by a combined 24-3.
“We got it done in doubles,” said coach Debbie Ekola. “We’re strong in the middle and bottom (of the lineup). We also got a key win at No. 3 singles (Ross). Instead of going into doubles tied at 3-3, we were ahead 4-2.”
The Vaqueros travel to Bakersfield on Thursday.
