SBCC was seeded 16th for the Southern Cal Regional women’s basketball playoffs and will play host to No. 17 L.A. Southwest on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Vaqueros (18-11) won eight of their last nine games to finish second in the WSC North at 10-2. Southwest (14-11) tied Cerritos for first in the South Divison of the South Coast Conference at 5-1.
Vaquero guard Francesca DeAngelis, the No. 1 scorer in the WSC at 20.4 per game, was named second-team All-State on Monday. DeAngelis and Jake Kelly previously earned first-team All-WSC North honors.
“I’m really happy with our draw,” said coach Sandrine Krul. “We would have been 15th but we can’t be in the same bracket with a team from our conference (No. 2 seed Ventura).”
If the Vaqueros win, they’ll travel to top-seeded Fullerton (28-1) on Saturday.
