SBCC claimed every set on Thursday and stayed perfect with a 9-0 women’s tennis win over Hancock in Santa Maria. The Vaqueros improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Western State Conference.
Terea Tapu, Meghan Schaeffer and Carolina Jaramilla-Loya, the 4-5-6 players, won their matches by a combined 36-3 with Schaeffer winning 6-0, 6-0. Amy Sagraves also blanked her opponent at No. 2 singles.
“Hancock is improved but so are we,” said coach Debbie Ekola. “We play Santa Monica next and I think that will be our toughest match of the year.”
After taking next week off, the Vaqueros travel to Santa Monica on March 9.
