The last three singles and final two doubles teams posted victories on Thursday, leading the SBCC men’s tennis team past Bakersfield 6-3 at Pershing Park.
Nikolay Ivanov breezed at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 for Santa Barbara (3-3, 2-0 WSC). Cameron DeAragon blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 with Kyle Lewis and Zack Scott also recording straight-set wins. Scott-Alex Zazove and DeAragon-Quinten Richelle won in doubles, 8-6 and 8-2, respectively.
“Bakersfield was a little better than we thought, especially at 1, 2 and 3,” noted coach Don Lowry. “We still got the win and we’re 2-0 in conference with our sights set on Ventura.”
The Vaqueros travel to play defending state champion Ventura on Tuesday.
