Santa Barbara’s boys soccer team was three minutes away from being held scoreless for only the second time this season on , but a late penalty kick propelled the Dons to another Channel League victory in a 1-0 decision at Ventura.
Christian Pardo converted the kick for Santa Barbara, which is 5-0-1 in league and 22-0-1 overall.
“As a team we didn’t play great,” said head coach Todd Heil.
The Dons, ranked No. 1 in Division II, are good enough to win even though they didn’t play their best game.
Dos Pueblos is the only team to hold Santa Barbara scoreless this season, recording a 0-0 draw on January 12.
The Dons wrap up their regular season with two games against Buena. A win in the first game would officially clinch a league title for SB.
