Pacific Hills not so peaceful for Warriors

Trevor Madden posted a career-high 15 points for the Carpinteria boys basketball team on Wednesday, a bright spot in the Warriors’ season-ending 70-43 loss to Pacific Hills in the first round of the Div. IV-A CIF playoffs.

Madden knocked down three 3-pointers in the game and added six rebounds. Manny Rodriguez, the Warriors’ leading scorer for the season, tallied nine points to go with 14 rebounds while being double and triple teamed throughout the game.

Geoffrey Allen and Pacific Hills feasted off of 34 turnovers from the Warriors, who lack a true point guard. Allen poured in a game-high 24 points.

Warriors head coach John Ward praised the third-seeded Bruins for being a quality team that gave Carpinteria matchup problems, reminding him of Tri-Valley League-foe Oaks Christian.

“They pressed from the get-go all the way to the end,” Ward said.

Pacific Hills improves to 17-10 while the Warriors finish their season with an 11-14 record.

Sophomore Andrew Sova had one of his better games of the season according to Ward and finished with nine points.
