Johan Lindqvist took second in the triple jump (13.99m) and third in the long jump (6.29m) on Saturday as SBCC opened its track and field season at the Pomona Pitzer All-Comers meet in Claremont. His triple jump was the ninth best in school history.Stephen Scrafford was third (out of 45) in the 3,000 in 8:37.56 while Donald Morgensen placed fifth in the 800 in 2:01.47.
In the women’s meet, Emelie Lundin took ninth in the 800 (2:28.39) and Tina Berglund was seventh in the 200 (27.30) and 10th in the 100 (13.59). Erika Schaeffer was 18th in the 3000 in 11:09.78, just nine seconds shy of SBCC’s top-10 list.
“It was a good start to the season,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “We shook off the rust a bit and got a good look at the squad and where we stand.”
The Vaqueros will compete in the WSC Relays on Friday at Ventura.
