Janelle Kohler had 13 points and 13 rebounds on Thursday as the Bishop Diego girls basketball team ran over Thacher 51-32 Thursday in the first round of CIF Division V-AA play.
Coach Jeff Burich said that the Toads’ crowd was the loudest the Cardinals have played in front of all season, but his team was able to maintain its composure.
“We’d be up by 15, they’d make a free throw and it would get so loud I had to check the scoreboard to make sure it wasn’t closer than I thought,” he said.
Dalise Spence had 10 points with six rebounds, while JV call-up Madison Ballard also got a bucket. Burich said that the Cardinals (19-8) ran their offense well and handled the Toads’ press nicely
