Rodrigo Perez had a Senior Night to remember, picking up his first career hat trick as the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team finished the regular season with a 4-0 non-league win. The Chargers had already wrapped up second place in the Channel League.
DP had the ball in Camarillo’s half the entire first half, amassing a whopping 19 shots in the period. Perez opened the scoring 19 minutes in, as Eduardo Cortez took the ball down the right flank and calmly found Perez across the goal, who beat one defender and slotted it past the keeper.
DP connected again right before halftime, when Ivan Luna chased down a Will Buratto cross from the left and muscled in a shot in front goal with defenders on him.
Perez got his second when he took a Danny Rowell flick and connected on a bicycle kick from 12 yards out. Rowell and Perez connected again to complete the hat-trick, this time on a corner kick where Perez firmly placed his header in the back of the net.
Chris Castillo and Eric Katz shared the shutout in goal, having to make just one save between them. Dos Pueblos coach Tovi Eliasen said that Kenny Lara was a fixture in the midfield with great link-up play, helping to set up many dangerous attacks.
The Chargers, now 11-5-7, await the draw on Monday to find out who they play on Thursday in CIF.
