SBCC’s Francesca DeAngelis and Jake Kelly were selected to the first-team All-WSC North women’s basketball squad on Sunday in a vote of the conference coaches. Coach Sandrine Krul was named coach of the year for the second time in her six-year tenure.
DeAngelis, a sophomore from Laguna Beach, led the WSC in scoring at 20.4 ppg and was third in steals (3.1). Kelly, a sophomore point guard from Fair Oaks, was eighth in scoring (15.7), second in steals (3.3), third in free-throw percentage (77.6), fifth in field goals and sixth in assists (4.0).
Freshman Mara Lux, the 7th-best rebounder in the conference at 8.5, made honorable mention.
The Vaqueros (18-11, 10-2) finished second in the WSC North behind Ventura (29-1, 12-0), the state’s No. 1-ranked team. SBCC is expected to get a Southern Cal Regional playoff berth and could open at home on Wednesday.
