Cold shooting leads to 76-54 Warrior loss

It was not the game Westmont Women’s Basketball (15-8, 8-7 GSAC) had planned for as The Master’s handed Westmont a 76-54 loss in Santa Clarita on Saturday night.

“It is definitely a game we are going to need to bounce back from,” said Westmont Head Coach Kirsten Moore. “We struggled to put the ball in the basket and gain any kind of momentum. The Master’s took us out of all kind of rhythm and we were not able to get stops that we needed to create easy offense for ourselves.”

BOX SCORE

The Master’s scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed.

Jessica Case put up 16 points for the Warriors and pulled down six rebounds. Alisha Heglund recorded 10 points and notched eight rebounds while Vanessa Farias added another 10 points.

As a team, Westmont shot just 27.4% from the field (20 of 73) and 20% from beyond the arc (5 of 25).

The Master’s was led by Jenna Reed with 17 points and Brittany Henderson with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Master’s shot 48.1% from the floor (26 of 54) and 63.2% from three-point range (12 of 19).

Westmont will seek to right the ship on Tuesday when they travel to La Mirada to take on the Eagles of Biola.
