City College stuck with first loss

Pasadena scored twice in the first inning Monday and went on to hand SBCC its first softball loss of the year 2-0 in a nonconference game at Brookside Park in Pasadena.

Laura Cannon went 2-for-2 and Lisa Zeitlin was 2-3 for the Vaqueros (3-1).

“They got their first run on an RBI single and the second on a bloop single that landed near the right-field line,” said coach Paula Congleton. “They didn’t hit our pitchers hard but they strung their hits together while we did not.”

SBCC left nine runners on base.

The Vaqueros travel to Bakersfield on Thursday for a 5 p.m. contest.
