Claire Mathews gave Dos Pueblos’ girls soccer team a 1-0 lead at halftime on Wednesday, barely hinting at the landslide that was to come.
The Chargers scored five more times in the second frame, routing Camarillo 6-0 for a non-league victory. With a playoff berth wrapped up, Dos Pueblos plays again on Thursday at Rio Mesa trying to get ready for next Wednesday’s CIF opener.
Mathews scored again 12 minutes into the second half on an assist from Brandie Harris. Maria Solis added to DP’s score five minutes later on another assist from Harris to make it 3-0. Harris finally scored one herself, making for a one-goal, two-assist day.
Kristen Kolegraff and Sophie Pollack finished off the scoring barrage, finding the back of the net within 30 seconds of each other.
Chloe Kroes and Mallory Meyers split time in goal to share the shutout as regular starting-keeper Meagan Bellefeuille played a half as a striker.
“She played very well up top for us today,” said Chargers head coach Molly Imel. “It was nice to have her roam the field a bit and work on her technical field game.”
Amber Altavilla managed the defensive line of Lauren Bradley, Katie Boehm and India Craig as all had a hand in the cleansheet.
