Belle Kammer had a hat trick, but the Cate girls water polo team fell to first-place Malibu 18-5 on Wednesday. It was a substantial improvement for the Rams (5-7), who fell to the mighty Sharks 22-4 in their previous meeting.
“Our front court defense played especially well all game long,” said coach Nathan Alldredge. “In a game often decided by speed, it was the counter-attack that made the difference in the match.”
Malibu scored 10 goals on counter-attacks in the game. Carly Biedel and Jamie Haight scored Cate’s other two goals. The Rams play at Nordhoff on Friday.
