Bishop Diego’s girls basketball team overcame one of its worst shooting nights of the season to defeat Malibu on Tuesday, recording a 36-20 Frontier League victory.
The Cardinals improve to 17-9 overall on the season and 6-3 in league leading into Thursday regular season finale at Carpinteria. The two rivals meet with second place on the line.
“It one of those ones we have marked on the calendar,” said Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich, whose team will have to shoot better than the 6-for-48 performance on Tuesday.
Freshman Greer Shull carried the Cardinals, connecting on three 3-pointers to collect a game-high 12 points.
Seniors Ariel Perez and Janelle Kohler contributed five steals and 13 rebounds, respectively. Perez, Kohler, Sophia Soto and Dalise Spence played their final games in the Brickhouse on Tuesday on Senior Day.
