San Marcos’ girls basketball team absorbed a 58-36 Channel League loss to Buena on Tuesday, taking small victories from the defeat.
Royals head coach Kristyn Miller liked the defensive showing as San Marcos didn’t allow any Buena player to score more than 10 points.
On offense, Kimmy Sanchez scored a game-high 15 points and the Royals got small contributions from Gabby Sandoval’s 3-pointer and Hannah Ball taking a charge, which Miller said fired up the team.
Emily Dietz sank two 3-pointers but the Royals had troubles sinking enough baskets overall.
“We were doing everything we were supposed to do, the ball just wasn’t falling,” Miller said.
San Marcos hosts Dos Pueblos on Thursday.
