Laguna Blanca’s boys basketball team is one and done in this year’s CIF playoffs, falling at Brethren Christian 72-38 in the first round of the Division-V playoffs on Wednesday.
Luther Tarver-Burks again led the Owls in scoring, collecting 27 points against the Warriors.
“Luther had a great year,” said Laguna Blanca head coach Sal Rodriguez. “He basicaly carried us all year.”
The problem was that the Warriors were much bigger than the Owls.
“Their smallest guy was bigger than our biggest guy,” Rodriguez explained. “They just played volleyball.”
Brethren Christian (22-4), the Academy League champion from Huntington Beach, does not have a player listed under six-feet on its 10-man roster.
Laguna, which finished fourth in the Condor League, wraps up its season with a 5-18 record.
