Kelsey Stimson broke out of a small scoring slump with eight points in the first quarter as the Bishop Diego girls basketball team picked up a 55-33 win at Santa Paula on Tuesday. The victory puts Bishop in a tie with Carpinteria for second place in the Frontier League at 4-3.
Stimson finished with 11, while Janelle Kohler had 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Dalisse Spence had nine rebounds and Courtney Houston added five steals.
“We applied lots of pressure in the first quarter and it was the difference in the game,” said coach Jeff Burich. “We also had 14 assists, so we did a good job of passing the ball and getting it inside.”
