Warriors work over Grace Brethren

Carpinteria’s girls basketball team oiled its pistons on Thursday night, getting ready for Bishop Diego with a 55-22 Frontier League victory over Grace Brethren.

Amanda Burch led all scorers with 19 points and Caitlin Wallace contributed 17.

“It was a good tune up for nest week’s league game against Bishop,” said Warriors head coach Dan Mercer, citing the opportunity to get a lot of players minutes on Thursday.

Kelci Jones recorded a season-high six points and nine rebounds. Jenny Leonard also posted six points and had six rebounds. Shelby Dunlap pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and Sierra Freeman dished out five assists.

“So a lot of the role players got some huge minutes for us,” Mercer said.

The Warriors improve to 10-7 heading into Tuesday’s game with the Cardinals.
