Warriors lose lead, fall in overtime to Seraphs

Carpinteria had a 10-point lead after three quarters but ended up falling to host St. Bonaventure in overtime, 58-51, in Wednesday’s Tri-Valley League boys basketball matchup.

“We couldn’t play defense and we didn’t execute on offense,” said coach John Ward. “I think we were tired. We only have eight guys.”

Manny Rodriguez scored 28 points with 12 rebounds and Trevor Madden added eight points with eight rebounds and six assists. Ward also said that Jovan Saenz played a nice game at the guard position.

“We’re in every game, but we can’t seem to finish anything. The kids have been playing hard and they clearly aren’t giving up,” said Ward.

The Warriors (10-7, 1-3 TVL) host Oaks Christian on Friday.

Carp really misses Kevin Lusterio's excellent guard play. It's not just his per game average of 17 points, six assists, three steals and three rebounds that hurts Carp, it's his leadership and hardwork on defense that got them wins!
