Ventura snapped Dos Pueblos’ three-game win streak on Tuesday night, posting a 54-18 victory over the Chargers in the Channel League opener for both teams.
The Cougars have yet to be beaten, compiling a 14-0 record so far this season. Dos Pueblos evens its record at 9-9.
Ventura outscored DP in every quarter, including a 20-5 fourth quarter that led to the blowout. Amy Pupa led all scorers with 17 points. Eda Graham added nine for the Cougars.
“It’s like my players said, ‘they’re like a bunch of trees,'” Chargers head coach Maynard Pilapil said.
Ventura lists eight players on its roster of players 5-foot-9 or taller.
Natalie Hilton and Jasmine Mata collected five points each for DP, which moves on to host Santa Barbara on Thursday.
