Gowdy, Draper provide the muscle in DP win

Kristen Gowdy and Talitha Draper dominated the backboards to help the Dos Pueblos girls basketball team defeat Pacifica 45-39 in a nonleague game Saturday night at Sovine Gym.

“We got good rebounding in the front court,” said DP coach Maynard Pilapil about the 11-rebound performances from the 5-10 Gowdy and 6-foot Draper.

Chiara DiMarco scored 17 points and Jasmine Mata added 13 to pace the offense for DP squad’s of sophomores. DiMarco was solid from the free-throw line in the second half, making 7 of 9 from the stripe.

The Chargers (10-11) return to Channel League play on Tuesday, hosting San Marcos.
