Briana Lopez and Karli Graf scored goals in the first half and the Santa Barbara High girls soccer team defeated host Ventura 2-1 on Thursday.
The Cougars scored with 15 minutes to go to avoid the shutout. Coach Brian Lloyd gave props to midfielders Krista Jimenez and Dena Slaff. The Dons improved to 4-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in Channel League play.
