Kelsey O’Brien and Makenzy Fowler found the cage three times each on Tuesday, leading Santa Barbara’s girls water polo team to a 10-4 Channel League victory over visiting San Marcos.
O’Brien made her presence felt in other ways as well, posting three assists and three steals. Charlotte Hendrix drew three ejections while assisting on two Dons scores and scoring one herself.
Santa Barbara (8-5), ranked No. 5 in Div. 1, committed 17 turnovers, something head coach Mark Walsh wasn’t thrilled with.
“Hopefully we can do a better job at the Tournament of Champions,” he said.

Royals head coach liked what he saw from Rose Koper, who scored San Marcos’ only goal from the field. The other three came from 5-meter penalty shots. Koper drew one of those penalties and grabbed two steals.
The two schools have already played each other twice, with the Dons winning 14-4 last Thursday.
“I thought we performed well today,” said San Marcos head coach Brian Roth. “Our goal was to improve on last week’s game with the Dons.”
While the Dons stay at home to host the TOC, San Marcos heads to the LBC on Thursday for a game against Poly before the weekend’s TYR Tournament.
