Contest organizers ran limited heats at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship on Friday. Bad weather delayed the start and caused a break in the action on Day 2 in Piha, New Zealand, where only the Boys-18s have surfed.

Santa Barbara’s Conner Coffin was one of those forced to deal with the high winds and rough surf, placing third in his second-round heat. France’s Kieran Bulard and Portugal’s Frederico Morais pulled past Coffin, who had won his first-round heat the day before.
Parker Coffin is awaiting his second-round heat after a first-round win. Coffin faces a second-round matchup with Hawaii’s Koa Smith, Indonesia’s Ediana Putra and Portugal’s Rui Henriques. All four from Team USA advanced past the first round in the boys-16s.
Lakey Peterson and the Girls-18s, scheduled to start today, have been moved back along with the boys-16s.
