Kate Montgomery nabbed a hat trick for the Cate Rams on Wednesday in a thrilling 7-5 girls water polo win over crosstown rival Carpinteria.
Cate went up 3-0 in the first half on two goals from Montgomery and one from Annelies Northup. Carpinteria battled back, however, and tied things up at 3-3. Belle Kammer would later scoe the first of her two goals to put the Rams up 5-4 and Cate held on from there.
“The team showed a lot of resilience after giving up a three goal lead, and battled all afternoon without losing composure against a very physical Warrior team,” said coach Nathan Alldredge.
Cate heads to defending Tri-Valley League champion Malibu on Friday for a contest pitting the top two teams in the league.
