In a frustrating game by any measure, Cate’s girls water polo team dropped a road contest to Oaks Christian by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday.
It was almost an exact reversal of the first match between the teams, when Cate came away with the win by a score of 4-1. Junior Kate Montgomery was the lone bright spot for the day, scoring the Rams’ only goal.
“Defensively, we left holes open all afternoon, which often led to goals,” said coach Nathan Alldredge. “There was never any rhythm established on the offensive end, and far too much sitting around in front of the goal.”
As of now, the race for the final two playoff spots in the Tri-Valley League will be tight, as both Villanova and Oaks Christian have similar league records. Cate returns next week hosting Malibu on Wednesday and traveling to Nordhoff Friday.
