After becoming the first Tri-Valley League team to score a goal on Oaks Christian all year, the Carpinteria girls soccer squad suffered a bit of a letdown, losing to La Reina 3-1 on Friday.
Joselyn Gamez scored off of an assist from Maritza Torres in the first half and has now scored in 11 consecutive games with 17 goals on the year.
La Reina, however, scored off of a corner kick in the second minute and added two more in the 25th and 30th minutes of the second half. Carpinteria, now 1-6 in the TVL, plays at Fillmore on Monday.
