Bishop Diego’s girls soccer team shook out some of the Christmas cobwebs on Friday and picked up a 4-0 win at Dunn.

Candace Melgoza assisted Allison Carr on the first goal in the 24th minute, and Melgoza finished off a rebound of a Natalie Durtche shot in the 37th as the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Michelle Salazar assisted Jordan Price in the 57th and Durtche made a 40-yard run and buried the final goal In the 78th.

“We’ve worked hard in the past couple of weeks trying to fix some trouble areas, and for the first 10 minutes it looked like we were going to fall right back into the old habits,” said Gonsalves. “But in the second half we did a much better job of controlling the ball on the ground and it opened things up for us.”

The Cardinals (4-5) wrap up preseason play against Channel Islands on Saturday.
