Wrestling at 215 pounds, Dos Pueblos’ Raul Yescas went 9-0 with eight pins and one technical fall (15 point differential) as the Charger wrestling squad kicked off its season with a 7-2 record and fifth-place finish at the Downey Duals.
Mario Elias (135 lbs.) and Chuy Lopez (145 lbs.) also went 9-0 in the meet, while Justin Russo (189 lbs.), Abraham Lizama (160 lbs.) and freshman sensation Chad Lampe (130 lbs.) each went 8-1.
“I think we’re off to a pretty good start,” said coach Anthony Califano. “I was a little bit disappointed in the finish, but our pool was stacked. It was a good weekend for us overall.”
