Marguerite Mannix and Annie Weis knocked the wind out of Bishop Diego on Saturday, scoring a relentless three times in the first four minutes on the way to a 6-1 drubbing of the Cardinals.
Weis totaled three goals on the day to record the hat trick while Mannix scored twice. Mable Savina also scored for Cate.

Cate’s Brennan Cusack brings the ball upfield against Bishop Diego on a rainy Saturday.
“We just came out really strong in the first 10 minutes which we haven’t done thus far,” said Weis, who helped Cate even its record at 2-2.
The game was played at Cate in sometimes driving rain, affecting both sides.
“I really like playing in the rain, I think it’s really fun,” Weis said, which possibly explains the hat trick. “The footing was difficult and there were some bounces and rolls that we didn’t expect but I think that we played well with it.”
Bishop Diego had a tough time responding to Cate’s explosive start, finally breaking through with a goal from Candace Melgoza in the second half.
“First of all, Cate was the better team,” said Cardinals head coach Brent Gonsalves. “They deserved the win, but 6-1? No way, that was a little excessive.”
The Cardinals (3-3) face another strong Condor League team on Monday when they cross the 101 to Laguna Blanca. Cate travels to Grace Brethren on Wednesday.
