Warriors have no problem with L.A. Baptist

Carpinteria opened the Fillmore Tournament by cruising to a 65-50 boys basketball win over L.A. Baptist  on Thursday.

Community West BankManny Rodriguez scored the Warriors’ first 10 points en route to 34 to go along with 15 rebounds. Carpinteria (2-0) went up 15 early, but the lead was cut down to two. The Warriors pushed it back up to nine, leading 40-31 at the half, before winning the third quarter 18-6 and putting it in cruise control from there.

Kevin Lusterio had 10 points, as did Isaiah Chavez.

Carpinteria plays Fillmore in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
