It was an easy stroll through the first game of the Viewpoint Tournament for the Carpinteria girls basketball team, which ran away with a 46-23 victory over Faith Baptist.
The Warriors (3-0) led by 19 at the half, and won the third quarter 14-7 even after coach Dan Mercer cleared his bench.
Amanda Burch and Caitlin Wallace combined for 36 points while Alex Steene added six and Jenny Leonard added a pair in some effective minutes off of the bench, according to Mercer. Shelby Dunlap came in and snagged three steals while Mercer said Marina DeLeon showed the ability to play point guard as well as the swing position.
Things should be a little more difficult when the Warriors take on Village Christian Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
