Carpinteria’s fortunes changed drastically on Wednesday night, turning around a game that Village Christian won 51-34 at the Viewpoint Tournament.
The Warriors led 11-4 after the first quarter but were outscored by 24 points over the next three periods and suffered their first loss of the season.
Amanda Burch racked up 21 of the Warriors’ 34 points and got some help from Alex Steene with five points and Caitlin Wallace with 6.
Wallace, Carpinteria’s second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, was mired in foul trouble for most of the night, changing the Warriors’ game plan.
Carpinteria (3-1) continues tournament play on Thursday with a matchup against Providence at 7:30 p.m.
