SBCC cut a 13-point halftime deficit to six with two minutes to go on Saturday before falling to No. 8 Antelope Valley 60-47 at the Moorpark Classic.
The Vaqueros (6-6) trailed 36-23 at intermission of the women’s basketball game before going on a 10-1 run to pull within 37-33.
“We would get it down to four or six points and couldn’t get over the hump,” said coach Sandrine Krul. “We’re young and we have to take better care of the ball. We also have to start scoring after making stops on defense.”
Krul praised the play of Gigi Aplin and Arsema Berhane off the bench.
The Vaqueros will battle Laney in the third-place game on Sunday at 2 p.m
