San Marcos was held to four points in the second quarter and dropped a 65-41 decision to host Thousand Oaks in the Lancers’ Rotary Club girls basketball tournament on Wednesday.
San Marcos (8-6) finished 1-2 in pool play and will play for fifth place on Thursday against either Moorpark or El Segundo.
“Thousand Oaks is well balanced and quick,” San Marcos coach Kristyn Miller said. “We had too many turnovers. They pressed us the whole game.”
The Royals trailed 20-12 after the first quarter, but they were outscored 16-4 in the second and never recovered.
Vanessa Curiel scored 16 points and Desiree Porter-Ray added 10 for San Marcos.
