After nine games on the road, SBCC will make its men’s home basketball debut on Thursday in the opening round of the 37th annual SBCC Classic. The Vaqueros (3-6) will take on Vandenberg AFB at 7 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion.
Cypress (5-4) will open Thursday’s play against Barstow (3-3) at 3 p.m., followed by Hancock (0-6) and Victor Valley (3-4) at 5 p.m. Defending champion Oxnard (3-5) will take on L.A. Valley (5-4) at 9 p.m.
The tourney continues with four games on Friday. The Saturday lineup features the consolation final at 3 p.m., the third-place game at 5 and the championship at 7.
Sophomore guard David Lane leads SBCC with a 19.2 scoring average. He ranks No. 2 in WSC scoring and eighth in assists (3.7). Lucky Teeguarden is averaging 14 points while Willie Reese is pulling down 7.2 rebounds per game.
Lane had a season-high 29 points last Friday against Hartnell at the Monterey Bay Classic.
SBCC has won eight Classic titles, most recently in 2006.
