San Marcos squandered a fourth-quarter lead on Saturday, falling to Tesoro 10-9 in non-league game.
Jade Fitzgerald led the Royals in scoring with three goals but was unable to play for most of the final quarter after fouling out.
The Royals also missed two penalty shots in the game that hurt them.
Tesoro’s Kelsey Snuggs rocked San Marcos for a game-high five goals while Megan Nowlina and and Heather Wertermaul added two apiece for the Titans.
Flo Chardon and Brittny Hummel tallied two scores each for San Marcos. Malory Zaunius stopped seven shots as keeper.
“Tesoro is a good team and they played hard,” rehashed Royals head coach Brian Roth. “We were unable to convert our penalty shots and power play opportunites and that ended up being the deciding factor in the game.”
The Royals are 5-3 and start Channel League play on Tuesday with a game at Buena.
