After taking an early six-point lead, Laguna Blanca kept losing ground to Villanova in the first game of the Laguna Blanca/Bishop Diego boys basketball tournament on Wednesday, eventually absorbing a 76-44 loss to the Wildcats.
Luther Tarver-Burks scored 23 points for the Owls and added six rebounds. Sophomore Brandon Bicketts followed Burks with 11 points, six rebounds. Logan Elder tallied seven points.
The Owls continue group play on Thursday with a matchup against Dos Pueblos’ JV team followed by Fillmore on Friday. The jointly hosted tournament finishes on Saturday.
