Dos Pueblos dominated the entire game against Newbury Park but one mistake cost the Chargers, resulting in a game-tying goal in the waining minutes of the second half that stood up in a 1-1 tie Thursday.
The Panthers converted their only corner kick of the second half in the 78th minute to even the score.
“It was a shame we put ourselves in that dangerous position to be vulnerable in the last minute.” said Chargers head coach Tovi Eliasen.
The lone goal for Dos Pueblos came in the 57th minute when senior Rodrigo Perez was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Eduardo Cortez then drained the PK in the back of the net, his second of the season.
“Only one loss after seven games is pretty good,” Eliasen said. “The boys are playing well, we just need to make sure we take something from every game as we prepare for Channel League.”
The Chargers improve to 3-1-3 and play at Righetti on Monday at 3 p.m.
