McClenathen puts up more numbers in DP win

Dos Pueblos successfully rebounded from Thursday night’s heartbreaking loss, collecting a 66-57 victory at the Simi Valley Tournament on Friday.

Matt McClenathen’s 25 points helped DP finish the tournament in 11th place after a 2-2 showing that could have been 3-1 if not for a game-winning, buzzer-beating heave from Saugus on Thursday.

ThreePicklesFreeSodaJay Larinan tallied 13 points and Robbie Mestas added eight points off the bench.

The Chargers, already without starting center Malik Heptot, were missing a sick Daniel Prichard.

“We’ve just been really battling,” said DP head coach Joe Zamora, happy with several individual performances.

Point guard Pablo Miranda, Mestas, Larinan and McClenathen carried  the load on Friday.

The Chargers continue their preseason tournament schedule next week at the Oak Park Tournament.
