Martial Arts Family Fitness (MAFF), a family-owned and operated school dedicated to improving lives through martial arts, announced today that its Kick-A-Thon benefiting the Academy of Healing Arts (AHA!), held November 21, met its goal of raising $10,000. Students and staff of the school participated in the third annual event.
“Our objective from the beginning was to raise $10,000 for AHA!, and we are proud and excited to announce that we met our goal,” said Dave Wheaton, founder and owner of Martial Arts Family Fitness. “It is truly amazing how the Martial Arts Family Fitness family stepped up and worked hard for AHA! Equally amazing is the participation that we received from the public, especially in this economy.”
“It has been an exciting process to tally the commitments for this wonderful organization,” added Melodee Meyer, co-owner of Martial Arts Family Fitness. “We are pleasantly surprised by the work our volunteers did, from securing pledges and donations to helping make the event a fun one. Our thanks go to everyone that helped, including local business that gave us prizes for our participants.”
Students and staff of Martial Arts Family Fitness had the opportunity to kick for three minutes and raise money for AHA! through either “per-kick” or “flat” pledges. “We are already looking forward to next year’s Kick-A-Thon and selecting a nonprofit to help,” added Mr. Wheaton. “We encourage our students to work with others, especially during this time of the year when so many are without. The Kick-A-Thon is our small way of helping others as a school and community.”
