Frannie DeAngelis scored 16 of her 24 points in the second half Friday afternoon, leading the SBCC women’s basketball team to an 89-70 victory over Citrus in the first round of the Moorpark Classic.
Jake Kelly had 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Vaqueros (6-5). Lyndsay Bergus hit 7-10 shots and scored a season-high 21 with four assists. DeAngelis, who also had seven rebounds, hit 8-20 from the field and 8-8 from the free-throw line. Bergus made all six of her free throws
After leading by one at half, the Vaqueros outscored the Owls 49-31 in the second half by outshooting them 40 to 30 percent and making 14-17 free throws. Citrus made just 13-26 from the charity stripe in the second half.
SBCC will take on No. 8 Antelope Valley in the championship semifinals today at 4 p.m.
