Rebecca Griffin took the SATs like so many other high school seniors on Saturday morning. Then she showed up and got in the Santa Barbara High girls basketball game one minute before halftime and scored 17 points from then on as the Dons took out host Lompoc in the Lompoc Tournament, 56-43.
The Dons went a perfect 3-0 in the tourney, as did Dos Pueblos and Pioneer Valley. The Panthers ended up winning the title for allowing the fewest points.
Ivette Gil had 11 points for the Dons while Tess Emerson chipped in nine. Gil had six assists while Griffin had five steals.
“We’ve got solid returners from last year and the potential to do well,” said coach Andrew Butcher, who lost his voice (which he said the referees appreciated).
