Game goes to Griffin, Dons

Rebecca Griffin hit the quarter-century mark for the Santa Barbara girls basketball team on Friday at the Gold Coast Tournament, scoring 25 point to help pace the Dons in a 68-52 victory over Saugus.

Ivette Gil added added 14 while Oodie Hoover tallied 11. Tess Emerson posted a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Dons used a small run just before halftime to take a seven-point lead at the break, which they doubled to 14 at the end of the third. Santa Barbara built the lead to 23 points at one point in the fourth before relenting.

“It was one of our better games,” said Dons head coach Andrew Butcher.

Santa Barbara (5-1) wraps up Gold Coast play on Saturday at San Marcos after traveling to Rio Mesa for Friday’s game.
