Cate started to unwind in the fourth quarter on Wednesday, but not enough to let go of a 56-48 victory over Faith Baptist.
The Rams only scored nine points in the final quarter and turned the ball over eight times, matching their total of the entire first half. A 20-point third quarter created enough of a cushion, however, giving the Rams their first win of the season.
Freshman Stu Engs came through in a big way, leading the team with 19 points while collecting 10 rebounds and five steals.
“Stu is playing with a great deal of confidence and he has been a great addition to the program,” stated Rams head coach Bryan Rodriguez.
Randy Person tallied four steals to go with six points while Mark Mullan and Houston Bradley were in double-digit scoring with 13 and 11 points respectively.
