The Santa Barbara boys basketball team remained winless but showed some resilience on Saturday at the Arroyo Grande Tournament.
The Dons endured a 52-9 loss to the host Eagles in the morning, but regrouped right away and played Golden West tight, only to lose 41-40. The team was without the services of leading scorers R.J. Rosborough and Clifford Anderson. Andrew Adams had a team-high 15 points between both games and Daniel Marshall had 11 while playing all 64 minutes in the back-to-back contests.
The Dons had a 15-foot jump shot in the final seconds of the second game which would have put them ahead, but it didn’t fall.
“They were a little bit leg-weary, but they keep fighting,” said coach Chris Hantgin. “We’ve gotta keep trying to be better. We have five more games next week, and hopefully we’ll figure out if we can get a win.”
The Dons open at home against Atascadero on Tuesday.
